Galaxy Note 5 To Launch Mid August

The next generation Note may be launching sooner than we thought!  According to a source who spoke with Reuters, the South Korean giant is going to move up the launch of their flagship phablet, the Note 5, to mid August of this year.  Typically, Samsung launches this device in September at IFA.

According to the source, the strategic move is two-fold.  First of all, Samsung isn’t too pleased with their current sales and hope that the Note 5 will help bolster things in that department.  The second reason for the early launch is that Samsung wants to beat Apple to the punch this year.  Apple finally changed their tune last year and released two larger iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+.  Apparently a 4″ screen isn’t common sense anymore but I digress…  The latter device is a direct competitor to the Note series as they both fall under the phablet category and chances are that Apple will be releasing a super-sized iPhone again this year.  By moving up the launch date, Sasmsung will presumably get their device to market first and hopefully steal some sales away from Apple.

While we don’t have any official launch date, you can trust that I’ll be keeping a very close eye on this as the Note series remains my go to.
