Back in April, Sony announced their newest flagship device, the Xperia Z4. At that time the Z4 was only launched in Japan while the rest of the world waited and wondered when Sony might take their 2024 flagship world wide. Well Sony’s global flagship has landed but it is and isn’t quite the Z4. Earlier today Sony announced the Xperia Z3+, which is more or less the Z4 but under a different name. Here are the specs:
- 5.2″ 1080p Display
- Snapdragon 810 Processor
- 3GB RAM
- Up to 32GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 20.7MP Camera
- 5.1MP Front Facing Camera
- 2930 mAh Battery
- IP5X and IP8X Certified
- Android 5.0
As you can see, everything is identical to the Z4 but for whatever reason Sony has decided to re-brand it. Hopefully this means that a a redesign is in the works as Sony has churned out 5 devices now that are all very very similar design wise. Perhaps we’ll see something new later this year?
In terms of availability, Sony stated that the Z3+ will launch globally in June in both single and dual SIM variations. We don’t know much about pricing yet but I’d wager they keep it around the same price as the Z3. So you’ll likely be looking between $600-$700 to buy this guy outright. As we hear more about Canadian availability and pricing we’ll be sure to let you know.
