If there’s one good thing about SMS and Android, you can choose any SMS app of your choice and your messages will appear in those apps automatically. Now it looks like Facebook wants a piece of the 3rd-party-SMS-app cake.
David Marcus, leader of Facebook Messenger announced today that the app will now officially support SMS in most countries. You will now be able open Messenger, select “SMS” and turn on “Default SMS App” in the settings. Once that process is complete, your SMS conversations will then appear in purple, next to your blue Facebook messages.
On a side note, it’s worth mentioning that Facebook states they do not process or store your SMS conversations through its servers, and that it is all done on the phone.
