Good news from the alternative keyboard market, Swype is finally being made available on the Google Play store. This marks the first time that the app will be easily available to all android users. Previously users had to enter the swipe beta and download the app from an alternative source or rely on a device launching with the keyboard already installed.
This is a relatively surprising move for the developer Nuance, as it has mainly relied on targeting manufacturers rather than direct sales. However with SwiftKey, Swype’s main rival, launching with some major devices including the Samsung Galaxy S4 they have made the decision to launch in the Google Play store.
Swype is available in the Google Play store right now and priced at $1.02 CAD.
