Finally! After what felt like an eternity the new Okay Google Everywhere feature has found a home on my phone. This feature debuted last week but it seemed as though it was only available in the states. I’ve been checking my phone every day and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new Google Play Service and Google Search over and over to no avail but it now appears to work (although I did have it show up for like 5 minutes last week).
This feature is for Android 4.3+ phones and the roll out is a little slow. Older devices may also miss out on the feature or may suffer from increased battery drain. Devices running the Snapdragon 800 and newer processors will be the most likely to be able to use this feature well as those chip-sets feature a low powered always listening companion core.
I’m excited to have this feature and I’m crossing my fingers that it will at least get close to the usability of Motorola’s Touchless Controls.
Let us know if you get it working too!
