New Custom Build Of XBMC For Android Out Now

The folks over at XBMC for Android have released a non-official build of the popular media center software promising a more user-friendly experience compared to what we’ve seen in the past.

XBMC is famous for its media streaming capabilities and metadata-scraping add ons. In addition to being able to play any kind of video in your library, it has tons of third-party add-ons for interfacing with online video-streaming sites.

The biggest difference in this version compared to what we’ve seen before on stock XBMC is that it provides support for third-party media players. Other builds of XBMC do not support hardware decoding from within the media center, so adding support to media players like MX Player, which gives you hardware and software decoding options, should improve quality of HD video playback on your devices.

If you want to dive in and give this a shot, you’ll first need to download MX Player, and then the XBMC apk from the source link below. Installation for me was pretty simple and smooth.

Let me know what you think of this new build of XBMC in the comments below.
