Motorola Migrate And Connect Go Live Ahead Of Moto X Announcement

Motorola Migrate

The Moto X is finally going to be official later today.  We’ll finally know all the ins and outs of the device and get to see all the wonderful goodies Motorola and Google have packed into their first joint device.  Although the announcement is still a little ways off, a couple of Moto X related apps have surfaced already; one in the Play Store, the other in the Chrome store.

The first app is Motorola Migrate (see above picture) and, as you may have guessed, helps migrate you to your new phone.  Here’s the description from the app page:

Description

One of the biggest problems with getting a new phone is losing some of your important stuff. Now you can move your photos, videos, SIM contacts and even your call and text history from your old Android phone to your new Motorola phone in just a few steps, wirelessly.
Motorola Migrate can only transfer media from devices with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above

The second app which can be found in the Chrome store is Motorola Connect.  This Chrome app connects your new Moto X to your Chrome web browser and will send your incoming texts and calls to your Chrome browser, just in case you don’t have your phone right next to you.  One nice little trick is that you can reply to your texts via your web browser, however calls still require you to use the actual device itself.

Motorola Connect allows you to see text messages and calls coming into your Connect enabled phone on your computer’s Chrome browser.  You can read and respond to texts using your keyboard and even know who’s calling before deciding if you should reach for your phone.

Excited to see what else they bring!
