One of the trends that we’ve been seeing lately (and one that I think is brilliant!) is manufacturers decoupling their unique apps from their software and making them downloadable and up-datable through the Play Store. This allows the manufacturers to send out updates to some of their apps and services without needing to release a full fledged update because those, as we all know, take forever! One such company that has adopted this route is HTC and one of their core apps has just received a nice little update!
HTC has recently updated their gallery app and along with the regular bug fixes and enhancements come a couple of new features. First off, the HTC One M8 now has the ability to adjust the blur level on UFocus photos. As you all know, the ability to create that “bokeh” effect in photos is one of the big selling points of the M8 so the added ability to control the blur level is a nice touch. This new feature is, as you may have guessed, limited to the M8 as it is the only device from HTC to employ the dual-camera set up which is essential to HTC’s UFocus photos.
For those of you with older device don’t be too sad as other Sense 6.0 devices do get their own little treat. After applying the update, any Sense 6.0 device will be able to use Dimension Plus and Pan 360. Dimension Plus simply creates a 3D-ish illusion as you tilt the phone while viewing and Pan 360 is essentially HTC’s version of Google’s Photosphere.
