Doing The Social Thing

Seems everyone is doing the social. You, me, our family, our friends, celebrities, the local news and their dog. I use the official Facebook and Twitter apps on my phone because I don’t really do that much social, honestly. I went through a phase when all this started but that story is for another day. It’s enough for me to check what my family and friends are doing quickly, and read up on some tweets. There are several apps that do the same thing and more but I’m only touching on the apps I use for this review.

Facebook was an app that took awhile to come over to Android and when it did, it wasn’t good. I recall how ridiculous it was compared to the iOS version. But to be fair the iOS version of Facebook was mature and coming along nicely. Android was new ground and it quickly caught up to be a very good app. The updates came often and I enjoy using it. Features include the News Feed, Profile, Places, Chat and a few others. It seems to be equal to the iOS version now.

Twitter has been a nice app on Android. The latest update brought a new look that had mixed reviews. The team has been adding features that keep it close to the competition. I like having images show up within the tweet instead of clicking a link to take me out of the app to the browser. Trends and your saved searches show up in the app too which is nice. One feature I use a lot are the Lists.  I could never keep track of everything or find one thing without searching over and over. Lists are a life saver.

I’ve given other apps a try but always come back to the official apps when they get updates. What apps do you use and love that you couldn’t live without? Is there only one app that you use to do it all? Let us know below and in our forums.
